Doctor says strong maternal instinct at young age is due too ???

I be ha this really strong maternal instinct since I was raped at age six. Is that normal ? I'm know fifteen and I still have this instinct I run towards a crying child I know what could be wrong with anything and everything a child could get my older friends who at emitters call me and ask for advice I can't explain it really but it's like my brain goes into overdrive and all I can think about is making it better. When I told my counselor she Said it was related to being raped at a young age and that it's normal. Is that true?? Anyone have experience with this?
